1. All members shall observe and adhere to the following principles and policies:
- Encourage Free Enterprise and Unselfish Service: Members shall promote free enterprise and provide selfless service to both the public and the pool and hot tub industry.
- Promote Industry Image: Members should strive to enhance the image of the industry at local, regional, and national levels.
- Commitment to Public Health, Safety, and Welfare: Members are dedicated to promoting the health, safety, and welfare of the public in the installation, maintenance, and operation of swimming pools, hot tubs, and spas.
- Support Industry Improvement: Members should support efforts to improve services and products in the swimming pool, hot tub, and spa sectors. They should also encourage the research and development of new materials, techniques, and methods.
- Fair Advertising and Sales Practices: Members should advertise and sell the merits of the industry’s products and services, refraining from attacking competitors or unfairly reflecting on their products, services, or methods of doing business.
- Transparency in Advertising and Sales: Members must reveal all material facts and avoid misleading advertising or innuendo. They must ensure that products and services are fully understood by the public.
- Commitment to Public Health and Safety Standards: Members shall design, build, service, and maintain swimming pools, hot tubs, and spas in accordance with public health and safety principles, and comply with all relevant laws, ordinances, and regulations.
- Fulfillment of Contractual Obligations: Members must promptly and fully fulfill all contractual obligations. They should offer reasonable warranties (whether explicit or implied) and process legitimate claims without hesitation or delay in accordance with the Standards & Ethics Procedure for Consumer Complaints.
2. Failure to abide by this Code of Ethics may result in the revocation or suspension of membership, as per Paragraph 5.10 of this By-law.
